Bike stolen right out of our garage (Clearwater Springs Subdivision)

Last night I was doing yard work and accidentally left our garage open because I went in through the back door. Around 10:30 my daughter said she saw someone standing on our front lawn a few steps in, but I just thought it was someone walking their dog and when I checked out the front window they were gone. I didn't even think to check the garage... and my son's $175 Mongoose bike was stolen. The thing that really bothers me is they knocked down a bunch of stuff to get it, and took it from the BACK of the garage. They were blatant enough to get that far into our garage, and OUR HOME, to take what they wanted. They knew what they were looking for.

I made a mistake and forgot to close our garage, and in an instant someone decided to steal from us. I guess I can say I'm thankful that all they stole was a bike and that they didn't try coming into the house, but it really is a shame that an honest mistake is an invitation for theft.

Add our family to the list of homes that will now be investing in a video surveillance system. Not only are we out the $175 for the bike that was stolen, I need to get him another bike.

If anyone sees it or notices that it got dumped, or hears anything, it was a silver Mongoose Rebel with red writing and red pedals. The front reflector was broken too.

If you purchase a bike for your kids this summer, make sure you write down the serial number or save the tag that came with it in case it gets turned in to the police. You will need it to claim the stolen items.
