Hot Dawg: Food Truck Gets OK for Plainfield Cruise Nights

A vendor received approval to sell hot dogs at the weekly Cruise Nights in downtown Plainfield.

Cruise Nights revelers and car enthusiasts can satisfy their craving for a Chicago-style dog, thanks to the village board's approval of a food truck at the weekly downtown Plainfield event.

Last week, trustees gave businessman William Philyaw the OK to operate his food truck, Chicago Dawg's, at the Plainfield Area Chamber of Commerce event, which takes place from 5 to 9 p.m. every Tuesday along Lockport and Des Plaines streets.

Planner Michael Garrigan said Chicago Dawg's has been selling food from the parking lot at the Mobil station, 22921 W. Lincolnn Highway, for the past few weeks. Now, the hot dog truck will be parked in the rear lot near Andreasen Travel on Cruise Nights, Garrigan said.

According to the Chicago Dawg's Facebook page, the truck will be at Cruise Nights from 6 to 9 p.m. each week.

The last Cruise Night of 2013 is scheduled for Sept. 3.
