Official: Ridge Road Closure to Last Weeks

The road closure started June 17 and could last another three weeks.

Motorists should avoid Ridge Road for the next few weeks as work continues on the roadway's realignment, Kendall County Highway Department Director Fran Klaas said.

Klaas said the contractor has another three weeks to complete earthwork on the project, which is part of the realignment of Ridge Road at Route 126. The project will join the north portion of Ridge Road — formerly known as Plainfield Road — with the portion of the road south of Route 126 near the Village of Plainfield. The road closure began June 17.

Drivers should follow posted detour signs, Klaas said, adding motorists have the option of heading east and using 135th street, or using Schlapp Road to the west.

He said the project could move along faster if the weather cooperates.

"If we get a dry patch, they'll move along pretty quickly," Klaaas said. "It's really weather dependent."
