Starbucks, Goodwill Store Coming to Plainfield

The Goodwill store will occupy the former OfficeMax location.

Plainfield will soon have one less vacant storefront.

A year after the Plainfield OfficeMax closed, a Goodwill store is set to open up shop at the location, 13665 S. Route 59.

Village Planner Michael Garrigan said Goodwill is proposing only minor modifications to the building, such as adding a drop-off, that do not require village board approval. The retail store and donation drop-off location is schedule dto open sometime this spring, he added.

Starbucks heads to plan commission

Garrigan said a proposal to open a Starbucks coffee shop at Route 126 and Route 59 is also in the works.

The proposal is on the agenda for the April 2 Plan Commission meeting, and will likely go before the village board for a vote at its Monday, May 6 meeting, he said.

The location would be Plainfield's second free-standing Starbucks; a franchise is located at 12640 S. Route 59.

Medical/dental office under construction

In other business news, Garrigan said a medical/dental office building is under construction in front of the Meijer store on Route 59.

The structure, which also includes some spec medical space, is slated to be completed sometime this summer, he said.
