This news release is from Joliet Junior College:

The Joliet Junior College Wellness Center will extend its hours starting in 2014 with open access from Jan. 6 through May 16. Open access means that students and community members can enjoy exercising as they wish any time the facility is open without the requirement of signing up for a class.

According to David Opon, associate professor of natural sciences, the Wellness Center will have more than 50 hours of availability than what was offered in the past. Monday through Thursday, the Wellness Center will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. On Fridays, it will be open from 7 a.m. – 2 p.m. It will be closed on weekends.

To sign up, students and community members can first sign up and pay in Student Accounts and Payments, A-1020 in the Campus Center. The next step is to bring the receipt and JJC ID to the Wellness Center where an open access sticker will be affixed to the ID.

Opon hopes the new open access hours will draw attention to the college’s facility.

“What makes the JJC Wellness Center unique is that we have a wonderful selection of aerobic equipment,” he said. “Our facility also looks out over the lake. It makes for an environment that you will want to be in.”
