Plainfield Police Blotter: Man Nabbed After Attempting to Flee

Leobardo Garcia, 26, of the 14000 block of Hunt Club Lane was arrested by Plainfield police and booked into the Will County jail on charges of aggravated fleeing, driving 26-30 mph over the speed limit, disobeying a traffic-control device or officer, headlight/taillight violations and improper use of a turn signal after a late-night chase, police said. Sgt. Mike Fisher said an officer clocked Garcia traveling at a high rate of speed near Main Street and Route 59, and caught up with Garcia as he headed east on Main Street. According to jail records, the officer clocked Garcia driving more than 26 mph over the limit as he headed down Route 126. Fisher said Garcia fled into the Hunt Club subdivision, while the officer momentarily lost sight of him. Police eventually caught up to him as he pulled up near his home on Hunt Club Lane, Fisher said. "He had killed his lights, but when he went to stop, the officer saw the brake lights come on," Fisher noted. Bond was set at $20,000. Garcia was released June 11 after posting 10 percent of the bond.

Ramon Torres, 38, of the 700 block of Front Street, Aurora, was arrested by Plainfield police and booked into the Will County jail on charges of aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol, driving after never being issued a license, improper traffic lane use, disregarding a traffic-control light and driving an uninsured vehicle.
