Semi Vs. Car Accident Closes Route 126; No Fatalities Reported

Accident occurred at 3:48 p.m.

Illinois State Police have confirmed there were no fatalities. 

UPDATE: 7:59 p.m.

The following information was provided by the Oswego Fire Protection District:
The Oswego Fire Department responded to the accident at Schlapp and 3:36 p.m. for an accident that involved a passenger vehicle and a semi-truck. 

The passenger vehicle sustained major damage with required extrication of three patients. A total of five patients were treated, reported the OFPD, although there is no word on the condition of the patients. One patient was transported via Lifestar Helicopter.

The Oswego Fire Protection District was assisted by Plainfield Fire Department, Bristol-Kendall Fire Department and Aurora Fire Department.    

Northern Illinois Fireground reported that "no lives were lost" in the accident

Route 126 has been re-opened.

A dispatch center Patch uses reported that three passengers were transported via ambulance and one was transported via helicopter.

From the Sheriff's Office:

The Kendall County Sheriff’s Office is assisting the Illinois State Police with a traffic crash involving injuries in the area of Route 126 and Schlapp Rd, Unincorporated Kendall County. Route 126 will be shut down from Grove Rd, to Ridge Rd until further notice.

Motorists are urged to use caution, and find an alternate route.

The Kendall County Sheriff’s Office will release further information regarding the traffic closures as it becomes available.

At this time the Illinois State Police are on scene and have not released any details. 

UPDATE: 4:05 p.m.

Kendall County Sheriff units are on scene and will be helping with traffic flow. At this time Route 126 is shut down. Drivers should seek to go another way if possible.

Illinois State Police are handling the incident.

Patch has received reports of an accident that has occurred at Route 126 and Schlapp Road.

The accident was reported as a car vs. semi truck with entrapment and occurred at 3:48 p.m.

It is suggested to avoid the area for now.
