Speeding Driver Plows into House, Joliet Police Say

Julyssa McCoy, 18, was ticketed by Joliet police for driving too fast for conditions on Caton Ridge Road Wednesday night.

A woman suffered minor injuries Wednesday night when she took a corner too quickly and drove into a house, Joliet police said.

Julyssa McCoy, 18, of the 1700 block of Caton Ridge Drive, Plainfield, was ticketed for driving too fast for conditions following the accident in which she struck the southwest corner of a home at 2012 Caton Ridge, Joliet police Capt. Les O'Connor said.

McCoy was driving southbound on Caton Ridge Drive at about 9:45 p.m. when the accident occurred, O'Connor said.

The crash's impact created a hole in the home's facade through which the living room's interior could be seen, O'Connor said. A city of Joliet house inspector had to be called in to ensure the damage didn't make the house uninhabitable, he said.

Several witnesses observed the accident, but no information on how fast McCoy was driving was available, O'Connor said.

McCoy was transported to Presence St. Joseph Medical Center in Joliet for medical treatment, he said.
