  • Sgt. Mike Fisher said the woman was attacked in the area of 143rd Street between Route 30 and Meadow Lane at about 7 p.m. While details of the attack were not being released Tuesday night, Fisher said the suspect is described as a black male with a large build wearing dark clothing.

"All we're really saying right now is that if anyone did see anything that was potentially suspicious to call the police non-emergency line," Fisher said. Residents can contact the non-emergency line at 815-436-2341.

"If you see something suspicious, if you hear something suspicious, call us right away," Fisher said. "We're just urging everyone to use caution."

No additional information on the incident or the woman's condition was immediately available. On Plainfield Patch's Facebook page, residents reported seeing police and K-9 activity in the area of 143rd Street and Route 30 on Tuesday night.

Fisher said more details will be released Wednesday.
