Syria and US relations.

The state of Syria, as like many countries with crippling economic and political situations is a sorry one indeed.  The consequences of the violent eruptions there is reaching to the shores of the US to the extent that President Obama is considering using military force .The Quran teaches Muslims “if two parties of believers fight each other, make peace between them” (49:10).   The first step is to make peace and Muslims are only allowed to fight if disorder reaches a level that transgresses and causes injustice against a group of people.

Furthermore, Muslims are emphatically commanded to live peacefully and obey those in authority. Islam teaches that if the governing body does not enforce a particular religion on its people, and the people obey the principles of the country, peace will ensue.  This is sadly not the state in the world today.

However, the situation in Syria has escalated to such violence that no rules of the holy books are being heeded to.  It is reported that young men have enlisted themselves to fight against the government, one act of injustice among many.

If President Obama supports an attack on Syria to try to quiet the rousing chaos, war may erupt between Syria and its neighboring countries. US attack on Syria will lead to a similar situation as with Iraq and support from other countries will diminish. Britain has already voted against Obama’s proposed attack as reported in the New York Times, Aug 29th.

The religious principles for humanity should be followed. Instead of using force, other means of ensuring peace must be initiated. This may be a difficult task but history has proven that war is not the solution to stop injustice.
