Plainfield Teens Excel at Junior Olympics

Several area athletes placed at the event at Eastern Michigan University.


Rachael Lau, 15, of Plainfield, competed at the AAU Junior Olympic Games last week at Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti, Michigan, winning gold medals in both the 2000 Meter Steeplechase and the 3000 meter run, girls 15-16-year-old division.

Several other area athletes placed at the event:

  • Ben Otstott , 13, of Heritage Grove Middle School took eighth in the 3000m run. Ben was ranked 17th coming into the event.  Ben also ran the 1500m run and placed 11th. He will be an eighth-grader. 
  • Kai Lincoln, 7, of Thomas Jefferson Elementary School took fifth in the Turbo Javelin. Kai was ranked 21st coming into the event.  The is the first year Turbo Javelin is contested at the JO.  Kai also competed in 800m run and Shot Put.  She will be a second-grader.
  • Brandon Adams, 12, of Minooka Junior High took fourth in long jump jumping 19 feet and took seventh place in the 200m finals and runs a quick 24.47 despite pulling his hamstring.
