2 Injured, 3 Ticketed In Plainfield Crash

The three-car crash shut down Main Street Friday morning.

Two people were transported to area hospitals following a three-car, chain-reaction crash Friday morning in Plainfield.

Plainfield Deputy Fire Chief Jon Stratton said all three cars were heading west on Main Street approaching Center Street when the crash happened around 8 a.m. The first vehicle, a Dodge Nitro, struck a Ford Expedition, pushing the Expedition into a Toyota Celica.

The Expedition sustained heavy rear-end damage in the crash. Stratton said the female driver, who complained of chest pain, and a female passenger were taken to area hospitals following the crash. He said none of their injuries appeared life-threatening.

The two other drives, who were the only occupants in their vehicles, refused treatment at the scene of the crash, Stratton said.

Plainfield Police Sgt. Mike Fisher said all three drivers were ticketed following the crash. The driver of the Dodge Nitro, which set off the chain reaction, was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. The driver of the Expedition was cited for driving without a valid license, while the Toyota driver was ticketed for having an expired insurance card, police said.

The drivers' names weren't immediately available, Fisher said.

Main Street was closed for about half an hour following the crash, Stratton said.
