Sophomore Runner First From Plainfield North to Head to State

Last weekend, Plainfield North High School sophomore Rachael Lau became the first member of the school's girls cross-country team to quality for the state tournament.

The teen finished fourth at last week's Class 3A Hinsdale Central Sectional with a time of 14:31, moving on to the state finals in Peoria this Saturday.

Over the summer, Lau, 15, won gold medals in two events at the AAU Junior Olympic Games at Eastern Michigan University.
