Plainfield Liquor Store, Mexican Restaurant Burglarized

Thieves did "severe damage" to get into the Route 30 businesses, police said.

Two Route 30 businesses were burglarized overnight Tuesday, with the thief or thieves making off with cash and store products, police said.

Sgt. Mike Fisher said Plainfield Liquor & Tobacco and El Molcajete Mexican restaurant, 15932 S. Lincoln Highway, were targeted. He wasn't sure Wednesday afternoon whether a vacant storefront between the two businesses was also hit, or how the burglar or burglars gained entry.

"They did some severe damage" to get into the businesses, Fisher said.

In addition to cash, televisions were stolen from the walls at the Mexican restaurant, which recently opened, according to police.

The businesses are located near Route 30 and Renwick Road in Plainfield.
